Accurate time tracking with minimum admin for precise billing

To bill on an hourly basis, all the time on tasks needs to be recorded as precisely as possible. With Memtime, this tax firm has their billables under control.
Georg Karigl

Tax Consultant at Ornezeder & Partner GmbH & Co KG

What is your job at Ornezeder & Partner - and what kind of company is it?

Georg: Ornezeder & Partner is a medium-sized, family-run tax consultancy and auditing firm in Upper Austria. We’re a team of around 40 experienced colleagues who support clients from various sectors and verticals, from sole traders to corporate groups. I am currently training as a tax consultant and also take care of operations.

Why is time tracking important to you? Were you tracking time before you discovered Memtime?

Georg: As we bill for (almost) all of our services on an hourly basis, accurate and timely recording of billable hours is one of our most important admin tasks. We record our times in our ERP system; before Memtime we used Excel sheets, and we would fill them out during the day or at the end of the day based on manual records.

What has changed with the introduction of Memtime?

Georg: With Memtime, we can now track exactly what we’ve done throughout the day and how much time we needed for certain activities.Above all, we can use Memtime to keep track of what we've done a week later, for example, if we forget to write down the times.

What were your biggest problem areas in terms of time management?

Georg: I think I speak for everyone in our industry: time tracking is no fun for anyone, but it is a "necessary evil" if you don't work on flat rates, and even then you have to do it because otherwise you can't check whether your  flat rates have been calculated correctly. And if you forget to write down your daily  activities, you have to go through calendar entries and e-mails to estimate how much time was needed for each activity.

What does your workflow look like now?

Georg: I track my work throughout the day completely automatically with Memtime running in the background, and then export time entries into our ERP system at the end of the week. This really saves me a lot of time (and nerves), so it really is a significant improvement.

What is your main goal when tracking time?

Georg: Our time tracking is the basis for invoicing clients and is therefore an essential part of our business model. Of course, it also helps a lot with quotations or hourly estimates if everything is recorded as precisely as possible.

Time tracking made easier than ever!
